Shing Ling was a serving soldier in the Myanmar military when he learned that the army staged a coup on February 1, 2021. While feeling guilty and ashamed since that day, it was the violence in Yangon’s North Okkalapa township in early March that pushed him to desert his post and join the nationwide anti-coup movement.
