Brazil’s São Paulo state declared a “red phase” alert on March 3, 2021, as the country saw its highest number of daily Covid-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic. At least 1,910 deaths were reported nationwide on March 3. São Paulo Governor João Doria announced that from March 6-19, bars and restaurants will only be allowed to do deliveries, while shopping centres and non-essential businesses will be ordered to shut down. As of March 3, Brazil had recorded 10,646,926 coronavirus cases and 257,361 related deaths.
