African refugee children ‘trafficked into prostitution’
Childcare workers in the Italian island of Sicily say many African children rescued in the Mediterranean are almost certain to have been trafficked into prostitution.
They believe people smugglers are exploiting the refugee crisis and operating in both Africa and Europe. Last year, about 5,000 boys and girls had reportedly gone missing in Italy.
Italy has now introduced a new law to give refugee children more protection.
