Analysis: Likud calls to annex parts of West Bank

Israel's governing Likud party has passed a draft resolution urging the party's leaders to establish Israeli sovereignty over large parts of the Occupied West Bank - and formally annex the Palestinian territory.

The vote is not binding but carries political weight in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s party.

Likud's right wing has been buoyed by the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
