Anti-government protests in DRC turn deadly

Protests demanding the resignation of the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Joseph Kabila have turned violent.

At least seven people were killed and dozens arrested by security forces, after Catholics called for peaceful demonstrations across the country.

President Kabila says he will stay in power until December 2018 because of delays in voter registration but voters appear to becoming increasingly impatient.

Al Jazeera's Charlotte Bellis reports.
