Architects shape future cities for sustainability at LA gathering

In Los Angeles, landscape architects have gathered to focus on sustainability and designing for an era of global warming and climate change at the 2017 American landscape architects conference.

It's estimated that by the year 2050, about 70 percent of all the people on Earth will live in cities. So urban landscapes will need to be designed to support future generations and adapt to a changing climate.

Projects range from employing new eco-friendly materials to transforming blighted areas into green spaces.

Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Los Angeles.
