Australia: 'Grave questions' over murder-kidnapping in Melbourne

Austraila's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says there are “grave questions” over how a man with a violent past was able to carry out a murder-kidnapping in Melbourne. Turnbull has called the attack “terrorism” and ISIL has claimed responsibility.

Yacqub Khayre, who had come from Somalia to Australia as a child refugee, killed one man and took a woman hostage before walking out of his apartment block to open fire on police. He injured three officers before being shot dead.

Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
