The Biden administration is struggling to accommodate a growing number of children crossing the border alone.
The head of US Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, has pushed back against criticism, as he was questioned by a House committee over an increase of refugees and migrants at the Mexican border.
Republicans say the surge is happening because the Biden administration has thrown out several Trump immigration policies.
