Boeing’s 737 MAX has returned to the skies in the US for the first time in almost two years. The American Airlines passenger flight flew from Miami to New York on December 29, 2020. All of the company’s 737 MAX models were grounded in March 2019 after two deadly crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia. The disasters happened within five months of each other in late 2018 and early 2019, killing a total of 346 people. In November, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) lifted a flight ban on the jets after Boeing agreed to new safeguards.
