Can you not be so positive?
Why are you so excited? Chill!
What's wrong with you? Why so happy so early in the morning??
There are many personality traits in us that's undesirable or negative, but being happy, upbeat and positive isn't one of them, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Having the ability to be cheerful and positive even in the most dreary of situations is an extremely lucky skill to have, not just because it's rare but because it means it takes less effort to create your own happiness.
If you think about it, most of us are very easily delighted when we were kids. It's only as we grow up that it becomes harder to please us - we need more reason to smile or more stimulation to think something is awesome.
But it doesn't HAVE to be that way - why would we think it's better to be hard to please? It doesn't mean we have higher standards, it just means we’ve developed a more cynical or pessimistic approach to life.
What's even more strange is that sometimes, we think it's a sign that we're worldly and cool when we maintain a calm or even a bored facade.
But that's all in our heads - the coolest people, and the most attractive people, are those who are easily delighted and excited, people who laugh easily, freely and unselfconsciously.
It's only when we need validation or approval from society that we learn to control or hide our emotions, so that we don't appear overeager, lame or stupid.
It's wonderful if you're someone whose glass is always half full instead of half empty, if you’re able to be in a good mood even without coffee.
If people criticise your ability to be positive and happy, it doesn't mean that they know better or that they live a better life. It's just an indication that they don't have yet have the skills to make the best out of every moment.
Life is short, and it's much better to spend our time being positive than it is being negative. So be happy, always!
