Catalan leaders given five days to decide on secession

Spain's prime minister has given Catalan leaders a period of five days to decide whether they will declared independence. On Tuesday the Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont, asked parliament to suspend the declaration of independence to allow for talks. If Catalonia does press on with secession, the Spanish government says it will take away the region's political autonomy.
