Cities and towns across China have been issued fresh orders for mass testing and lockdowns as the nation’s Covid-19 case count rose above 1,000 for the first time in two months on July 19, 2022. The epicentre of the mainland’s latest outbreak was in the provinces of Gansu and Guangxi, but small-scale restrictions put in place for Shenzhen and Shanghai have residents in those cities concerned about future lockdowns.
