China’s ambassador to the US said on March 20, 2022, that Beijing was not sending military equipment to Russia, but rather was sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The statement comes after Washington told its Nato allies on March 14 that Beijing had signalled willingness to provide military and economic aid to Russia at Moscow’s request. China’s first batch of humanitarian supplies to Ukraine arrived on March 18, and officials said more supplies are on the way to help those caught up in the conflict that has entered its fourth week.
