In a wide-ranging discussion with the Post, Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip Tak-kuen addresses the issue of the requirement for civil servants to take an oath of allegiance to the Hong Kong government. Nip says “just under” 200 civil servants have declined to do so, but stressed the importance of the government being run by ‘patriots’ to strengthen the “one country, two systems” policy.
