Authorities in Colombia seized more than 100 tarantulas that were bound for Mexico City on March 31. The spiders, which were hidden in a disguised chess board, will be either freed into the wild or relocated.

According to Reuters, Colombia is a ripe location for wildlife smugglers and traffickers because it is one of the world's 17 'mega-diverse countries,' containing thousands of diverse animal species.
