Confusion surrounds Ahmed Shafik's fate in the UAE

A former Egyptian prime minister, Ahmed Shafik, and the United Arab Emirates are reportedly arguing over his travel plans. Shafik, who lives in exile in the UAE, says he has been banned from leaving.

But the UAE says he is free to return home to campaign in next year's presidential election.
