Japan began mock inoculations for Covid-19 vaccines in the city of Kawasaki on January 27, 2021. This was to prepare for the real vaccine roll-out, which has been slowed down by a lack of containers, dry ice and manpower. Japan is already one of the last major industrial countries to start mass vaccinations. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said vaccines were critical to holding a successful Olympics.
