Desperate dreams: Refugees risk their lives to enter Italy

The number of refugees trying to enter Europe via the Greek city of Patras has grown at least four-fold since borders were closed last January.

Living in abandoned warehouses, mostly single men from Pakistan and Afghanistan fight nightly battles with Moroccans and Algerians to find a way through into Italy.

They attempt to find a secure hiding place aboard a truck, in the hopes of being driven onto one of the ferries bound for Italy.

Al Jazeera’s Jonah Hull reports exclusively from Patras, Greece.
