GCC summit ends a day early amid diplomatic rift

Saudi Arabia and the UAE announced a new economic and military partnership separate from the GCC and their leaders did not attend the summit.

Kuwait's foreign minister has told GCC leaders that the bloc remains crucial to regional stability and that Kuwait would continue to mediate the dispute in the Gulf region.

It's the first summit after Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE imposed a blockade on Qatar in June.

Al Jazeera's Mohammed Jamjoom reports from Kuwait City.
