Germany to impose stricter COVID lockdown during holiday season

Germany will close most shops from Wednesday until January 10 as it tightens coronavirus restrictions and tries to rein in the spread of the virus.
Chancellor Angela Merkel says the measures are necessary to reduce the surge in cases.
Cases of coronavirus are once again rising across Europe before a vaccine rollout programme.
