German Chancellor Angela Merkel has vowed to work with the EU to stop Turkey's bid to join the bloc, if she is re-elected later this month.
Merkel made the comments in a televised debate with her main rival, Martin Schulz, who said he would block Turkey's EU accession talks if he wins.

The pair also debated migration and security in the only televised debate of the election.

Schulz had been gaining in polls, but figures released after the debate suggested Merkel put in the best performance.
