Hong Kong must rebuild its post-pandemic economy by tapping opportunities from the rapidly growing economic power zone in the Greater Bay Area. That's according to Victor Fung, group chairman of the Fung Group and head of the local think tank 2022 Foundation. In an exclusive interview with the South China Morning Post, Fung says Hong Kong can regain its position as the hub for overseas Chinese investment through greater economic integration with mainland China, in particular the Greater Bay Area, and neighbouring Asean economies. Failure to do so, he says, will risk Hong Kong missing out on this “window of opportunity” to rebuild in the post-Covid era.
