Over 2,000 protesters took to the streets in Hong Kong to demand China’s accountability for the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. Some in the rally also protested against the government’s controversial extradition bill, which would allow Hong Kong to transfer fugitive criminal suspects to the Chinese mainland. The march took place just over a week before the June 4 anniversary of the crackdown, and Hong Kong’s annual candlelight vigil which is expected to draw tens of thousands of people.
