Hong Kong’s education bureau issued sweeping guidelines on February 4, 2021, to bring schools into line with the city’s national security law. They cover every aspect of schooling from management and teaching to pupils’ behaviour, even off campus, in a campaign designed to reduce the likelihood of future protests and instil patriotism.
