House Managers Deliver Article of Impeachment Against Pres. Trump to the Senate | LIVE | NowThis

HOUSE DELIVERS SENATE ARTICLE OF IMPEACHMENT AGAINST TRUMP: The nine House impeachment managers—Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Diana DeGette (D-CO), David Cicilline (D-RI), Joaquin Castro (D-TX), Ted Lieu (D-CA), Eric Swallwell (D-CA), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), and Joe Neguse (D-CO), and Stacey Plaskett of the U.S. Virgin Islands—are walking a processional ceremony through National Statuary Hall and the Capitol Rotunda to the Senate chamber to present the article of impeachment against former Pres. Donald Trump. Rep. Raskin, the lead House manager, will then read the article of impeachment on the Senate floor.

On January 13, one week after the domestic terrorist attack at the U.S. Capitol where at least 5 people were killed, the House impeached Trump for ‘incitement of insurrection.’ The article of impeachment was passed with historic bipartisan support, as 10 Republicans went against Trump and supported impeachment. He is the only president to ever be impeached twice.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the impeachment trial will begin in the Senate on February 9. ‘There is only one question at stake, only one question, that senators of both parties will have to answer before God and their own conscience,’ Schumer recently said on the floor of the Senate. ‘Is former President Trump guilty of inciting an insurrection against the United States?’
