February polling from Gallup found that 71% of Americans were willing to be vaccinated for COVID-19 with an approved vaccine at no cost. Vaccine hesitancy, however, seems to be falling along party lines: while 91% of Democrats say they were willing to be vaccinated, just 51% of Republicans said they were willing to be vaccinated. The House hearing will focus in part on how to encourage Americans to take the safety and importance of the vaccine seriously and counteract baseless conspiracy theories regarding vaccination.
