India: Gujarat vote test for Modi's popularity

Polls have closed in local elections in the Indian state of Gujarat. The vote is being seen as a test of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity, ahead of national elections in 2019.

A win in his home state will help to dismiss critics who say his party's support base is eroding in the wake of his unpopular economic policies.

Al Jazeera's Divya Gopalan reports from Ahmedabad.
