Indian trainees were learning how to administer Covid-19 vaccines in southern India on December 22, 2020, as part of the nation’s preparations for a mass inoculation programme expected to get under way in January 2021. Three coronavirus vaccine candidates are still waiting for approval in India. When mass vaccinations begin, the trainees will join the nationwide effort to try and vaccinate 300 million people by August 2021. In the first phase of the programme, priority will be given to health care workers, soldiers, the elders and people with pre-existing conditions.
