The coronavirus pandemic has had a relatively large impact on the employment of women in the country compared with men. A recent study conducted by the Ashoka University found that Indian women who had jobs before lockdowns were imposed, were 23 per cent less likely than men to be re-employed after restrictions were lifted. Covid-19 had infected more than 10 million people in India as of December 21, 2020.
