Islamabad protests: Sit-in ends after Pakistan law minister quits

Protesters in Pakistan have officially ended their sit-in near the capital Islamabad, after the law minister gave in to their demands and resigned.

They wanted Zahid Hamid to step down over the wording of a parliamentary bill, which they describe as blasphemous.

Protest leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi called off the sit-in after state media reported minister Zahid Hamid's resignation early Monday.

Rizvi said he had military assurances that the demands of his Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLY) party would be met.

Al Jazeera's Zein Basravi reports from Islamabad.
