Pres. Biden is delivering remarks on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as the world has surpassed a staggering 100 million cases. The United States continues to be the global epicenter of the outbreaks with more than 25.4 million infections. At least 423,653 Americans have died, according to Johns Hopkins University. About 3,000 Americans on average die every day. Across the country, Americans remain frustrated over the vaccination rollout. Dr. Vivek Murthy, Biden’s nominee for U.S. Surgeon General, has said that Biden’s goal to vaccine 100 million Americans within his first 100 days would be doable with the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, but added that he is hopeful the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be authorized soon. Additionally, Dr. Anthony Fauci also tried to clarify Biden’s promise by telling CBS News that first and second round doses could count as part of the 100 million vaccinations.
