Kyrgyzstan leader’s ally set to win presidential election

Preliminary results in Kyrgyzstan's presidential election show a surprise first round victory for Sooronbai Jeenbekov, the chosen successor of Kyrgyzstan's outgoing president Almazbek Atambayev.

He trailed a young and charismatic oil tycoon for much of the electoral campaign. Atambayev has pledged a peaceful and democratic transition.
