In US news and current events today, Leo Baker is a non-binary skater who’s won seven X-games medals. They will be playable in the next releases of the ‘Tony Hawk’ video game series. Baker said on Instagram that their addition to the roster made their dreams come true. Activision announced in May that that the first two games in the series, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2, will be remastered and released in September 2020. Baker the first openly gender non-conforming skater and the third LGBTQ+ skater to be featured in the ‘Tony Hawk’ games, along with Elissa Steamer and Vanessa Torres. Baker says the sport wasn’t always receptive to them even though it espouses counterculture ideals. To increase the visibility of gender non-conforming and queer folks in skateboarding, Baker launched the NYC Skate Project (NYCSP).
