When life gives you lemons… it's easy to say, oh let's make lemonade! In reality, when life throws a curveball at us, we're usually in such a state of shock that what is happening doesn't even register, especially at the start.
We cannot comprehend how our life has suddenly changed, much less try to see the positive in it.
Sometimes, the things that happen in our lives are not positive at all.
We can't find a silver lining because the impact it has on us affects us so deeply and thoroughly that there is no way to be positive in such sadness and despair.
And this is the hardest, most difficult test of all.
When we have the rug pulled out from under us, how do we still find that balance to stand? How do we not fall over? And if we do fall, how do we get back up?
There is no more crushing defeat when we lose someone we love. Whether we are prepared for it, or whether it takes us completely by surprise, our world as we know it completely changes.
It's like the lens of which we see the world through has changed, and we cannot go back to how we used to see it before. And so maybe we lose a little faith, in life…and in hope.
It’s important to know that the people we love, when they leave us, they don't take away the meaning of our life. In fact, that's the last thing they want - they want to give us the opposite, to give us love and faith and lots of hope for our life and our own future.
And so we have to do their love justice, to take the love they've given us, for however long it was that we had it, and make our life as beautiful as it can be.
Maybe the hurt, the emptiness and the sorrow will never fully go away, but our optimism, our hope and our love for life can sit strongly beside it. We can continue to find meaning in life, because that's what the people who love would want for us. For us to be happy, always.
