The police handling of a demonstration in the United Kingdom defending women's rights has sparked a widespread backlash amid growing calls for London's police commissioner to resign.
Critics say the way the police broke up a vigil for murdered woman Sarah Everard was over the top and the home secretary and London mayor have also spoken up in defence of the protesters.
The opposition’s Labour Party is set to vote against a new policing bill next week, which gives the police greater powers in arresting protesters.

Al Jazeera’s Nadim Baba reports from London, UK.
