Are you going to have a good day? Or are you going to have a bad day?
Nobody would choose to have a bad day. But if nobody chooses bad days, then why we would even have them in the first place? The logical answer is that bad days happen to us.
But it is important to ask ourselves, do bad days happen to us, or bad THINGS happen to us? And is there such a thing as a 'bad' thing? Undesirable maybe, inconvenient perhaps, but good, bad, who knows?
So things happen to us that mess up our day, our plans, but whether our day BECOMES bad... maybe we do have a choice in that. Bad days don't come upon us because nothing is bad on its own - it is up to us to define what's considered bad.
If, in our minds, our expectation are such that we should always have perfect days, days where the sun is shining and there's no traffic and our boss is in a good mood and there's an amazing home-cooked meal at home... then it makes sense that we would feel like it's a bad day when we don't have either or any of those things.
But if we have no expectations on life, no expectations of the people around us, no expectations of how the world should treat us, then everything that happens in our day are simply things that happen. We may like some of them, we may not like some of them. Some things causes problems and challenges, and some things brings joy and happiness.
The days are passing by fast, quick as a blink of an eye. Every moment is barely present before it immediately becomes the past. If we have challenging days, it is only because we have a future, it is because we have time, and time is a privilege.
Either you run the day, or the day runs you. Choose which one it's going to be, and be happy, always.
