Millions of Thais prepare for King Bhumibol Adulyadej cremation

It’s now more than 12 months since Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej died.

And after a year of national mourning, he’ll finally be cremated in an elaborate ceremony on Thursday. His crematorium is over 50 metres high and took over eight months to create.

His funeral is "considered to be the most important in contemporary Thai history" as King Adulyadej was seen by many as the “father of all Thais” after he helped shape the country after the second world war.

Al Jazeera's Scott Heidler reports from Bangkok.
