NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio Speaks to Press | LIVE | NowThis

NYC FACES ISSUES AS VACCINE SUPPLY DWINDLE: Yesterday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that the city had canceled 23,000 appointments to issue the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine this week as the five boroughs face an increasingly dwindling number of available shots. De Blasio claims supply issues have posed a problem, even as the city begins to become more efficient in distribution, hitting 40,000 vaccinations on Tuesday, the highest 24-hour total so far. ‘We need the freedom to vaccinate,’ de Blasio said, placing blame on the Trump administration for a lack of supplies, and said he expected the Biden administration to invoke the Defense Production Act in order to boost vaccine supply.

De Blasio is speaking to the press now.
