NYC Mayor Blasio: Bombing was 'an attempted terror attack'

President Trump says the attempted bombing in New York highlights the urgent need for Congress to enact immigration reform.

He said the Bangladeshi suspect entered the US on a family immigration visa that is incompatible with national security.

The 27-year-old suspect, Akayad Ullah, was wearing a homemade pipe bomb that detonated in the bus terminal near Times Square on Monday.
Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters: "This was an attempted terrorist attack."

Five people, including the suspect, have been injured.

Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey reports from New York.
