Pres.-elect Joe Biden Announces Health Care Team | LIVE | NowThis

BIDEN ANNOUNCES HEALTH TEAM TO COMBAT COVID-19: President-elect Joe Biden and VP-elect Kamala Harris formally announce key members of their administration’s health care team. These officials will spearhead the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and they are expected to revisit the pandemic playbook left by the Obama administration and thrown out by Pres. Trump.

Among the choices are Attorney General of California Xavier Becerra, who will be nominated for Secretary of Health and Human Services and, if confirmed, would be the first Latinx secretary to lead the department; former U.S. Surgeon General under the Obama administration Dr. Vivek Murthy, who will be nominated to return to his role as U.S. Surgeon General; and chief of the infectious diseases division at Massachusetts General Hospital Dr. Rochelle Walensky, who will be nominated as Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition to these officials, Dr. Anthony Fauci will continue in his role as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, as well as serve as Biden’s chief medical adviser on COVID-19.
