Refugees held at Lesbos resort to self-harm to ‘leave the island’

A surge in refugees heading to Greece in the past three months is putting a strain on emergency facilities.

Camps built to host a few thousand people are now coping with three times that number.

The conditions are so dire that some refugees are tired, psychologically unwell and they are hurting themselves in the hopes of being removed from the camp on Lesbos.
