US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called on Friday for an end to the growing crisis in the Gulf.
However, following the conciliatory statement, US President Donald Trump took a contradictory position, which is closer to Saudi Arabia – a key country campaigning against the peninsula.
His comments came in the wake of a blockade imposed on Doha by Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain, and other countries.
