Rights groups say UN failing to prosecute peacekeepers accused of rape in CAR

Human rights activists say the United Nations is not doing enough to prosecute French peacekeeping soldiers who have been accused of rape and sexual abuse in Central African Republic.

Rights organisations believe children, both boys and girls, were sexually assaulted by the UN troops that were meant to protect them. Some of the victims were even reportedly forced to have sex with animals.

French prosecutors dropped the cases of the abuse, saying there was not enough evidence to charge the soldiers involved.
