A start-up in Israel is using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to rescue and protect beehives. Vital for agricultural pollination, beehive colonies have declined at an average annual rate of 30 per cent since 2006-2007, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency. Using AI and smart technology, the Israeli firm Beewise has created a robotic beehive called the “Beehome”, which can reportedly control the hive's climate, monitor for pests, prevent swarms, alert keepers when it’s harvest time and report problems in real-time.
