Scottish National Party suffers losses in the UK election

The Scottish National Party (SNP) lost 21 seats in Britain’s June 8 general election.
The party had proposed to hold a second referendum on independence from the UK – a plan which has now suffered a setback.
In contrast to the SNP’s performance, the Conservative Party made gains in Scotland.
