South Korea ready to talk with its northern neighbour

South Korea has accepted North Korea's rare offer of talks, proposing the two sides meet next Tuesday.

The Unification Ministry said they would mainly focus on North Korea's participation in the upcoming Winter Olympics in the South.

The proposal follows Kim Jong Un's New Year's address, which struck a more friendly tone towards Seoul.

Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reports.
