Spain's Catalan regional government risks suspension or jail over secession bid

More than 200,000 people took to the streets in Barcelona on Tuesday, demanding the release of two men they consider political prisoners after they were arrested earlier this week on charges of sedition in relation to their push for the Catalonia's secession. It came as Madrid increases pressure on Catalan leaders to revoke their bid for independence from Spain or clarify their stance on the issue. Cares Puidgement, Catalonia's regional president, and his entire administration risk being suspended or even imprisoned if they fail to adhere to the central government's demands.
