Early in the morning of May 20, 2022, Chinese photographers captured a spectacular red lightning surge in the Himalayas in China’s southwestern Tibet. Red lightning is a transient luminous event and occurs as a result of electromagnetic waves generated by lightning strikes, which gives them an orange-red colour.
