Sudanese artist Abou Bakr al-Sherif has been teaching mosaic art since 2010. In a country where the art form is little known, Sherif faces challenges securing conventional materials used for mosaics. Instead of stone and glass, he has switched to ceramics, which are more readily available in Sudan. He hopes to collaborate with artists and companies to fill public spaces with mosaic portraits of important national figures.
