Of the 22 Chinese gold miners who were trapped in the Hushan mine in China's eastern Shandong province after an explosion on January 10, 2021, a dozen were believed to still be alive days later. The workers were sent supplies including bandages, blankets and rice porridge through holes drilled by rescuers. One of the workers who had been located reportedly fell into a coma after suffering a severe head injury and died on January 21.
